On-site Course Description

The NYIG adult class is a designated Go course for students to enjoy studying Go. This course emphasizes the thinking process throughout the opening, middle game, and end game stages of Go, thus achieving the dual purposes of improvement and motivation. Classes are taught by professional-level instructors and meet 3 times a month on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Levels: from new players to 3D

Time: 10:00 to 12:00, every Saturday except the first Saturday of each month (Monthly Tournament).

Venue: New York Institute of Go, 255-05 Northern Blvd, Little Neck, NY.

 

Tuition:

  • Plan 1: $270/1 session, 4 classes            ($67.50/2-hour class, no make-up)

  • Plan 2: $513/2 session, 8 classes            ($64.13/2-hour class, 5% OFF, 1 make-up )

  • Plan 3: $729/3 session, 12 classes          ($60.75/2-hour class, 10% OFF, 2 make-ups )

  • Plan 4: $918/4 session, 16 classes          ($57.38/2-hour class, 15% OFF, 3 make-ups)

  • Plan 5: $1080/5 session, 20 classes        ($54.00/2-hour class, 20% OFF, 4 make-ups)

For new students: One FREE Trial Class is available upon registering for a 4-class session after the trial class (and the $40 deposit will be refunded). 

 

Course Outline & Plan

Students are divided into 2 groups based on level:

  • Group A: Beginner and double-digit kyu players

  • Group B: Single-digit kyu and low dan players

Schedule (Saturday)

  • 10:00 - 10:30: Lecture for all students on playing strategies and reading tactics.

  • 10:30 - 11:30: Lecture for Group A: Go rules, go etiquette, go terminologies, basic skills. Paired practice Group B.

  • 11:30 - 12:30: Paired practice for Group A. Group B: Advanced playing skills which include but are not limited to opening, joseki, tesuji, and end game.

Online Beginner Course Description

The NYIG adult beginner class is a designated Go course for all beginners to learn basic rules and skills of Go. Classes are taught by professional-level instructors and meet every Saturday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. 

Levels: from new players to 20K

Time: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM New York Time, every Saturday.

Venue: KGS, NYIG room

 

Tuition:

  • Plan 1: $230/1 session, 4 classes            ($57.50/2-hour class, no make-up)

  • Plan 2: $437/2 session, 8 classes            ($54.63/2-hour class, 5% OFF, 1 make-up)

  • Plan 3: $621/3 session, 12 classes          ($51.75/2-hour class, 10% OFF, 2 make-ups)

  • Plan 4: $782/4 session, 16 classes          ($48.88/2-hour class, 15% OFF, 3 make-ups)

  • Plan 5: $920/5 session, 20 classes          ($46.00/2-hour class, 20% OFF, 4 make-ups)

Every student is given separate task for their progress. The student enter higher level class once finishes the beginner content.

  • 19:00 – 20:00: Separate lectures and practice for every student

  • 20:00 – 21:00: Paired Practice and review/ Simul with teacher and review

Online Advanced Course Description

The NYIG adult advanced class is a designated Go course for students to enjoy studying Go. This course emphasizes the thinking process throughout the opening, middle game, and end game stages of Go, thus achieving the dual purposes of improvement and motivation. Classes are taught by professional-level instructors and meet every Sunday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Levels: from 19K to 3D

Time: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, every Sunday.

Venue: KGS, NYIG room

 

Tuition:

  • Plan 1: $230/1 session, 4 classes            ($57.50/2-hour class, no make-up)

  • Plan 2: $437/2 session, 8 classes            ($54.63/2-hour class, 5% OFF, 1 make-up)
